For prolonged use, cut your loaf in half - keep half on. your counter in a plastic zip lock or beeswax bag, put the other half wrapped up whole in the freezer until you are ready to use. Defrost in the fridge, then wet the bread and put it into a 400 degree oven for 5 minutes. This will refresh your loaf to freshly baked bread.
