Community

For more than 40 years, we have been slowly designing and building a model of regenerative community capable of rising to meet these challenging times.

 

So far across 200 acres at Highland Lake in Flat Rock, North Carolina, we have created five distinctive neighborhoods, two hospitality projects, and an educational retreat center—all informed by the principles of regenerative design and development.

We are now beginning the eighth of the 12 major projects in the masterplan... entering the next octave of what we believe is possible. In earlier phases, we largely carried the design from beginning to end. This time, we want to invite the future residents, entrepreneurs, educators, facilitators, and community builders into the creative process from the beginning.

We bring together a rare combination of experience: decades of building physical communities, founding and operating eight small businesses in very different fields, hosting retreats, and studying and practicing many of the collaborative tools that help people live and work well together in all of these different arenas.

Now we are looking for people who may want to:

• Live in an intentionally designed, regenerative community

• Create or bring a small business to the community

• Offer workshops, retreats, or transformational programs

• Continue a legacy of farm to table cuisine and community gardens 

• Help shape a new economic model of lifelong living, learning, working, and growing together
