Gather & Create: Find Your Muse Art Series
Four inspiring sessions of creativity, connection, and artistic exploration
Join local artist and workshop leader Miriam Hughes at Treska's for a special four-part creative series designed to spark inspiration, build confidence, and foster meaningful connections. Each session explores a unique theme, introducing new techniques, materials, and ways of seeing the world around us.
More than an art class, Gather & Create is a shared creative experience where conversation, laughter, encouragement, and discovery are as important as the finished artwork. Adults of all skill levels are welcome—from curious beginners to experienced artists.
Creativity lives within each of us. Come discover where yours leads.
Classes to meet on alternate Thursdays from 2 to 3:30pm
Please join your classmates at 1pm for lunch at Treska's before your class to add more of the "connection" element to your experience.
1: July 2 – 2 to 3:30 PM
Creative Mischief - Pass-the-Chicken
Watercolor with a limited palette but unlimited imagination
We kick off the series with a playful twist on one of Miriam's most popular classes. Using just three colors and one black pen, you'll create a whimsical chicken illustration and then pass it around the table as fellow artists add a few creative touches. After a round of collaborative "feather-ruffling," your painting returns to you for the finishing details. Along the way, you'll contribute to several quirky chickens and enjoy watching each artwork evolve through shared imagination. Everyone leaves with a completed chicken of their own—made even more memorable by a few feathers from their creative collaborators.
2. July 16 -2 to 3:30 PM
Listen, Imagine, Create
Discovering creativity through listening, trust, and shared imagination.
Participants team up to explore listening, imagination, and trust through art. One person with closed eyes describes a visualized image while their partner guides their hand across the paper, turning words into marks, shapes, and color.
Then switching roles and embracing the unexpected, participants discover as they create a new image that creativity is often less about perfection and more about connection, curiosity, and fun.
July 30 - 2 to 3:30 PM
Organic Forms & Textures
(Watercolor, Black Ink & Acrylic Pens) The Garden Through the Five Four Senses (touch, smell, hear and taste)
We'll wander the garden gathering impressions rather than images—the fragrance of herbs, the rustle of leaves, the warmth of sunlight, the texture of berries, the chorus of summer sounds. Then we'll return to the classroom and translate those experiences into color, line, shape, and pattern. Using watercolor, black ink, and acrylic pens, you'll create artwork inspired not by what you see, but by what you sense. The result is a playful exploration of imagination, observation, and the many ways we experience the natural world.
August 13 – 2 to 3:30 PM
The Grand Finale – Gathering the Pieces Revitalizing and Repurposing Through Collage
For our final gathering, we'll begin with a brief stroll through Treska's, taking in the colors, textures, patterns, and small details that make this place so special. Back in the studio, we'll give new life to materials gathered from our everyday worlds—plastic shopping bags, discarded artwork, magazine pages, junk mail, and other overlooked treasures.
Working together on four large-scale drawings inspired by favorite Treska scenes and landmarks, we'll layer, tear, arrange, and reimagine these familiar fragments through the art of collage. As individual pieces come together, so will our shared experiences from the series, creating vibrant works that celebrate creativity, community, and the beauty of seeing ordinary things in extraordinary ways.
No collage experience is necessary—just a willingness to experiment, play, and discover unexpected possibilities. The finished artworks will become part of the Treska Art Collection, leaving a lasting reminder of the connections and creativity we've built together.
$30 per class or $100 for the complete four-session series.
