A Day of Courageous Community Building
Wednesday, December 17th, 2025
Treska's on Highland Lake
215 Rhett Dr., Flat Rock, NC 28731

A day-long exploration of what becomes possible when we slow down, listen deeply, and practice new ways of being together—especially in uncertain times.
9:00 – 10:30 AM | Breakfast Club Salon
Getting to Know Your Neighbors, Salon-Style
We begin the day by gathering around tables, food, and conversation—creating space for genuine connection and curiosity. This is not networking, but neighboring: the simple, powerful act of being human together.

10:30 – 11:30 AM | Playback Theatre: Community Stories
Playback Theatre is a unique, story-based form of improvisation that transforms lived experiences into shared reflection. Through deep listening, empathy, and creative response, personal stories are honored while revealing their universal resonance—helping us see ourselves and one another more clearly.
11:30 AM – 12:30 PM | Introduction to Dynamic Facilitation
Dynamic Facilitation is a breakthrough group process that welcomes difference rather than avoiding it. Instead of debating or trying to control outcomes, the method supports groups in weaving together divergent perspectives—often leading to insights and solutions that once felt impossible.

12:30 – 1:15 PM | Lunch at Treska’s
A shared meal and a chance to continue conversations informally.

1:15 – 3:00 PM | Weaving the Strands of Engagement
What becomes possible when we intentionally combine different group engagement practices?
In this session, we explore how storytelling, facilitation, and relational spaces can work together to strengthen local relationships, deepen community coherence, and surface shared meaning and direction. We are learning how to face these times together—not in isolation.

3:00 – 4:30 PM | Dynamic Facilitation Practice
An experiential opportunity to practice the method, ask questions, and feel the difference firsthand. This is not a debate, discussion, or meeting—it is a facilitated process that taps into deep creativity and collective intelligence. An essential tool for communities preparing for what comes next.

5:30 – 7:00 PM | Community After Hours
Many of us have listened to Sarah Wilson’s recent TEDx talk, which names what so many are feeling: the overwhelm of a world in upheaval, the collapse of old systems, and the strange relief that comes when we stop pretending everything is fine.

Together, we’ll explore one simple and powerful question she poses:
“Given the world we’re entering, how do we want to show up—as humans and as communities—now?”
