We’re thrilled to welcome Launa Tierney—affectionately known as “the pasta lady”—and her mother for a truly special Sicilian pasta dinner. This isn’t just any dinner; it’s a celebration of tradition, sustainability, and the magic that happens when generations cook together.

 

The star of our evening will be fresh fava beans from our own garden, paired with garlic scape pesto made from herbs we’ve nurtured ourselves. This marks our continuation of Fava Fest, a tradition that began here in 1988 and has become a cornerstone of our spring celebrations.

 The Evening’s Flow

Chef Michelle will guide us through the fava harvest, sharing the secrets of preparing these garden gems. We’ll begin with grilled fava beans dipped in Italian dressing and rolled in Parmesan cheese—a time-honored Sicilian tradition that transforms simple ingredients into something extraordinary.

 

Launa will then demonstrate the ancient art of pasta making, her hands creating the fettuccine that will cradle our fava beans. There’s something magical about watching pasta come to life—flour and eggs transforming into silky ribbons that connect us to countless Italian grandmothers who’ve performed this same ritual.

We’ll conclude in our dining room with Sicilian fava bean fettuccine, salad, summer squash soup shots, and a pistachio dessert—a complete celebration of the season’s bounty.
