Sandburg Brunch & Play
Experience an afternoon with a forgotten American icon with a delicious twist of a goat-cheese inspired brunch.
Treska's on Highland Lake invites you to a Sunday Funday on June 1. What are you getting into?
Once upon a time, nearly everyone knew the name, Carl Sandburg. In terms of the number of books sold, appearances given, and honors bestowed, he was one of the most successful American poets of the twentieth century. But few know him today , despite his powerful voice that still resonates with American identity.
The play, The Many Lives of Carl Sandburg by local Sandburg author John W. Quinley, helps audiences discover (or rediscover) this American Icon. This one-act reader’s theatre production is directed by Highland Lake Cove resident, Karen Moore. The Sandburg Players bring his story to life through dramatic and humorous readings, the vibrant music and songs from his American Songbag, and evocative projected images of his life, family, and work. Expect up to 90 minutes of educational entertainment suitable for adults.
Savor a delicious goat cheese-inspired brunch at 12:30 pm before settling in for the play at 2:00 pm. You will love this informative, entertaining, and thought-provoking theater experience in the beautiful setting that is Highland Lake Cove.
